In an open-world environment estimated at 180 square kilometers with more than 700 enterable interior structures, standard map navigation is insufficient for coordinated operations. Whether you are staging getaway vehicles for high-stakes robberies with Jason and Lucia, scouting long-range sniper perches above Biscayne Bay, or cataloging submerged cargo containers off the Leonida Keys, personalized cartography is essential.

Our platform now features the Tactical Waypoint Studio, an interactive in-browser cartographic tool that allows operators to place, categorize, annotate, and export custom map markers directly on the Interactive Tactical Map.

The 5 Tactical Waypoint Categories

Every custom waypoint placed on the canvas can be assigned one of five dedicated operational categories:

1. 💎 Stash / Loot

  • Primary Use: Hidden packages, unlisted cash lockboxes, submerged smuggler crates, and burglary targets.
  • Visual Aesthetic: Amber Gold diamond marker (#f5a623) with glowing pulse animation.
  • Recommended Practice: Use the notes field to log lock combination codes, container color markings, or alarm security types.

2. 🚗 Vehicle / Boat Spawn

  • Primary Use: Pre-staged getaway supercars, moored high-speed cigarette boats, rooftop helicopter pads, and rare vehicle spawns.
  • Visual Aesthetic: Marine Teal chevron marker (#00b4d8).
  • Recommended Practice: Note the vehicle model, whether keys/hotwiring are required, and the fastest exit highway or aquatic channel.

3. 🎯 Sniper / Tactical Vantage

  • Primary Use: Elevated observation rooftops, highway overpass perches, industrial crane towers, and radar station balconies.
  • Visual Aesthetic: Coral Red crosshair marker (#ff6b4a).
  • Recommended Practice: Record line-of-sight coverage (e.g., “Covers east drawbridge entrance at 350m range”) and ladder/stairwell accessibility.

4. 🏠 Safehouse / Base

  • Primary Use: Rented motels, protagonist hideouts, secluded swamp stilt shacks, and underground parking garages.
  • Visual Aesthetic: Emerald Green shelter marker (#2ecc71).
  • Recommended Practice: Mark proximity to police precincts, medical clinics, and vehicle respray garages for wanted-level cooldowns.

5. ★ Intel / Secret

  • Primary Use: Easter eggs, cryptic radio signals, folklore cryptid sightings (such as the Grassrivers Skunk Ape), and unsolved anomalies.
  • Visual Aesthetic: Cyber Purple star marker (#a855f7).
  • Recommended Practice: Document specific in-game weather triggers (e.g., “Only visible during heavy thunderstorm at 03:00”).

Instant On-Canvas Placement

  1. Navigate to the Interactive Map.
  2. In the top-right control toolbar, click the 📍 Waypoints button to activate Waypoint Mode.
  3. Select your desired category from the Studio HUD header.
  4. Click anywhere on the map canvas. The cursor reticle locks onto the exact target coordinates (e.g. 25.7617°N, 80.1918°W), and the creation form opens automatically.
  5. Enter your waypoint label and tactical notes, then click ✓ Place Pin.

Local Storage Persistence & Security

All custom waypoints are stored directly in your browser’s private localStorage (gta6_custom_user_waypoints_v2). Your markers persist across page refreshes, tab closures, and browser updates without requiring an account or sending data to external servers.

Crew Collaboration via JSON Export & Import

Planning an operation with your GTA Online crew or friends?

  • Click ⤓ Export JSON in the Waypoints Studio footer to download an archival .json file containing all your pins with coordinates and tactical notes.
  • Your crew members can click ⤒ Import on their devices to instantly load and merge your tactical waypoint plan onto their own tactical map.
